Double Peak Key Co. is a licensed locksmith company based in San Marcos, California, owned and run by Brandon Lee.
Brandon Lee has worked on doors for years, most of them in North County San Diego, and lives in San Marcos with the same builder hardware, HOA cluster mailboxes and west-facing keypads the rest of the city does. When you call, you get the owner or a technician the owner trained and vouches for, not a dispatcher in another state.
The business does one city on purpose. Working only in San Marcos and Lake San Marcos means short drives, honest arrival estimates, and a van stocked for the doors we actually see here rather than a little of everything.
Why "Double Peak"
Double Peak Park is the summit above San Elijo Hills that most of San Marcos can see from the driveway. On a clear day the lookout takes in the whole city, Discovery Lake, the Cerro de las Posas ridge and the ocean past Carlsbad. It is the landmark that says "home" to people here, which is exactly what a locksmith is supposed to protect.
The logo is a key whose cuts are the two peaks. If you have hiked to the top, you will recognize the shape.
Why new homes and smart locks
Half the houses in San Marcos were built after the mid-1990s, and whole neighborhoods such as San Elijo Hills and Rancho Dorado are newer than that, with new phases still going up. That gives the city a specific lock problem that older towns do not have: thousands of doors still on the builder's construction key, with copies that passed through framers, painters, agents and previous owners.
We kept seeing the same thing on move-in jobs. A family with a beautiful new front door, a keypad lock they had installed themselves, and a backup cylinder that still opened with the construction key. A garage-entry door nobody had touched since the drywall went in. So we built the business around fixing that properly: every exterior lock on one new key in a single visit, and keypad and app locks installed so the bolt throws cleanly, the batteries last, and the old keys are actually dead.
The same thinking carries to the business side. The new tilt-up and logistics buildings along SR-78 hand tenants keys with no history, so we set them up with a proper key chart or fob readers from day one.

Licensed as a locksmith company by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, the state agency that regulates locksmiths, and insured.

General liability insurance covers every job, and we provide a certificate of insurance to property managers and businesses on request.
Background-checked
Every technician holds a state locksmith employee registration, which requires a fingerprint background check through the DOJ and FBI before they can touch a lock.
A marked van
Our van carries the business name, and the technician who shows up will have ID with the business name on it. If either is missing, do not let them in.
How we work
- Quote first. You hear the price range and the service call fee on the phone. On site we confirm the exact number before any work starts. Our ranges are published.
- ID on every lockout. We check photo ID and proof you belong there before opening a door, for houses, apartments and businesses alike. It protects you as much as anyone.
- Non-destructive first. Picking and bypass before drilling, always. If drilling is the only option we tell you first and replace the cylinder on the spot.
- Clean-up. Brass shavings, old hardware and packaging leave with us. Your entry looks like we were never there, except the lock works.
- Written invoices. Every job ends with an itemized invoice by text or email, with the license number on it.
- Warranty on labor. Our labor is guaranteed. If a lock we installed or rekeyed acts up because of our work, we come back and make it right at no charge.
